"L'Ami du Patois" is an information bulletin (diary of dialect-speaking events, lists of new publications in dialect) and also contains various texts in dialect and in French, written by speakers of dialect, enthusiasts and specialists. The December issue is devoted to a theme selected by the Editorial Board. Since 2008 each issue contains a section entitled "Expression of the month", open to all dialect-speakers who may suggest words and expressions chosen from their dialect.
"L'Ami du Patois" is published quarterly by the "Fédération romande et interrégionale des Patoisants" (FRIP). It was founded in 1973 by Jean Brodard (1917-2006) and published in La Roche (FR). Since 2006 it has been published in Savièse by an editorial committee from Valais with three issues a year (April, September and December). Sponsored by the four cantonal federation for dialects (FR, JU, VD, VS), it serves as a link between the various associations.
