The Swiss Fern Society publishes their own journal since 1978. The journal's title was first Farnblätter (1978-1995), then changed to Das Prothallium (1998-2019). From 2020 the journal is called FernFolio and appears once to twice a year. The journal reports on the Fern Society's activities and observations as well as on news in the field of fern research.
The Swiss Fern Society was founded in 1977. The society's goal is to actively promote the knowledge and protection of ferns in Switzerland. At the same time, the members cultivate a horticultural exchange. The Swiss Fern Society is interested in fern plants, which includes not only the actual ferns (Polypodiopsida) but also the ancient group (Lycopodiopsida) with Lycopodiaceae, Isoetaceae and Selaginellaceae.
